Ulverston is a picturesque market town, with cobbled streets.
A street market, on Thursdays and Saturdays, sells fresh local produce.
Local attractions are numerous. The area boasts a beautifully landscaped 18 hole golf course.
There is a Swimming pool and outdoor/indoor sports complex with gym only 300 metres from the site.
Climb "Hoad" and visit the Sir John Barrow Monument. Visit the world's only Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston, with its fascinating collection of memorabilia dedicated to Stan Laurel who was born in Ulverston in 1890. Conishead Priory Buddhist Centre is open to visitors, see the unique temple and take a tour of the gothic mansion. The Lakes Glass Centre is a new attraction where visitors have the opportunity to see the manufacture of full lead crystal and coloured art glass and visit the factory shop and cafe.

At nearby Lindal there is Colony Country Store, where visitors can watch candles being manufactured or just look around the factory shop.

Towards Barrow-in-Furness there is South Lakes Animal Park, a unique safari park on foot. See tigers, giraffes, kangaroos, lemurs and monkeys at this active conservation park with partnerships all over the world helping to save animals in their natural habitiats.

The Dock Museum is a free attraction, telling the story of Barrow as a shipbuilding town and often has specialist exhibitions of interest on different aspects relating to the area. Furness Abbey ruins are on the fringe of Barrow, visit Walney Island with its nature reserve or Roa Island, with a ferry crossing to Piel Island.

If you fancy going bowling, Barrow Superbowl is the place to be, with 12 lanes, bars and eating areas within the complex. It is situated on Barrow's Hollywood Park where there are also a number of fast food outlets.

Towards the nearby Lakes of Coniston and Windermere you may wish to visit Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, travel on beautifully restored steam trains through stunning scenery to Lake Windermere where you may board the Windermere Lake Cruises.
